Here's sites that offer free textures. Check out each site's policy on credit for using their creation. biggrin

And here's the ones I have bookmarked.

Absolute Background Textures - http://grsites.com/textures/
Tons and TONS of textures here. You can preview how they'll tile and also change their colors and such. Watch out for pop-ups. NOTE - it's come to my attention that some of the textures here were copied from somewhere else that may or may not have allowed it, so let the consumer beware!

Forrest Gump Texture Library - http://textures.forrest.cz/

Absolute Cross - http://www.absolutecross.com/graphics/textures/

The Limelite - http://www.thelimelite.net/html/textures.shtml

Environment Boxes - http://amethyst7.gotdoofed.com/env.htm
Haven't been there in awhile, but as I recall, lots of natural images

Texture Bin 342 - http://digitalcraftsman.com/textureBin/textureBin.htm

Paul Burke's Texture LIbrary - http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/~pbourke/texture/
Quite a collection of various textures[/b]

I also have a couple of favourite free image sites to add...

Image*After
morgueFile

Both sites have lots of great images and textures that are free to use, and neither requires you to register or log in.

Hope you guys find 'em useful!

You have to be careful with stuff from ABT, a lot of it isn't public domain, its been recycled from other sites which don't allow their files to be re-distributed.

Here are some of my bookmarks, Citrus Moon has some great items.

I am horrified! I didn't realize that. I thought it was really a unique site, though I prefer to change the colors of textures myself. How can we know which ones are okay to use?

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I've also edited the link in my previous post to alert people to the fact.

Kim - I don't think there's any way we can really know for sure that a site we see is on the up-and-up unless we hear otherwise. It's tough that way - we basically have to go on trust and assume that what it says on the site is true. But grsites allows people to upload new textures, and whenever just anyone is allowed to do that, there's going to be that sort of thing, when someone either doesn't remember where they got something or just doesn't care. So I guess it shouldn't surprise me.

Well, I 'm just glad that there were only a few textures that really grabbed me there. My texture folder is starting to bulge, so I'm being a bit more careful now!

Thank you for all of these links. This will keep me busy for a while.

These are not textures so don't exactly fit this thread but I reckon anyone interested in texture links would like DIY Graphics links as well.

Several sites offering Do-It-Yourself graphics (snippets of images that you can use on your P sprites to clutter shelves and surfaces and piece furnishings together) were listed in this thread looking for images to use for a bookshelf project:

Well it doesn't really matter, does it? We're not excactly going to paint a message on our faces that says "We stole your stuff" And show it to them.

Not getting caught does not make it ok to use someone's material without permission.

As long as you are using other people's work only on your own computer, for your own amusement, there isn't any great moral objection to what you do. However, using other people's work is unacceptable if you are going to distribute your creations, either with or without receiving pay for them.

Since most of the creators who use this forum do share their work with the sims community, the ethical point is an important one for us here.
